Hi, Iām Tricia!
Tricia Gilrein is a painter living and working in Providence, RI. She received her BA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her MFA from the University of St Andrews in Scotland. While working toward her undergraduate degree in art history, she spent four years as an apprentice to master Tibetan thangka painter, Kelsang Lodoe Oshoe. Together with his team, she helped to create murals for the western Massachusetts community, which she credits as her formal training in studio art.
She has exhibited at venues including Dorchester Art Project (Boston), Boston City Hall, the Gallery Event (Boston), and the George Walter Vincent Smith Museum (Springfield, MA) and was a member of the Based Art Collective (Boston).
She has worked as Art Collections Manager for the City of Boston, and served as Executive Secretary for the Boston Art Commission. This experience allowed her to work with prominent national and international artists while they developed short and long term art interventions of public art across the City.
Her work has received press in ArtWalk Magazine.
